Netizens have chided the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) over the similarities of its new campaign logo with the logo of an Italian company as seen on a graphics tutorial video.
A report on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho by GMA News’ Bernadette Reyes on Tuesday said the photos of the two logos became viral on social media, with some netizens even ribbing the BIR if it has no budget to hire a graphic designer.
Some netizens, the report said, even made memes out of the logos.
BIR Commissioner Cesar Dulay, meanwhile, said they are already looking into the issue.
“Bakit, may conclusion na na plagiarized?” he said in the report, even as he admitted that the new logo has his approval although he did not know its source.
“Tanong tayo kung ano nangyari. Tsaka ‘yung nagke-claim na nag-plagiarize eh kausapin natin,” he added.
Netizens in June criticized the Department of Tourism for its campaign video that was similar with a tourism campaign in South Africa in 2014.
The issue resulted in the DOT severing its ties with McCann Worldgroup Philippines, the ad agency behind the campaign video. —KBK, GMA News
