The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) announced a red tide alert over several areas in the country, according to a report on “Unang Balita” on Thursday.
The affected areas are Irong-Irong Bay in Western Samar, inner Malampaya sound in Taytay, Palawan, and Puerto Princesa Bay which is also in Palawan.
The shellfish in the coastal water of Mandaon and Placer in Masbate were tested and found to have high levels of Paralytic poison.
The Si-it Bay in Negros Oriental, meanwhile, tested positive for the presence of red tide toxin. — BAP, GMA News
