The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is offering free rescue training for pet dogs in case the “Big One” – a catastrophic earthquake – strikes, GMA 7 news program “24 Oras Weekend” reported on Sunday.

The training sessions, held every Saturday, will teach dogs to use their sensitive sense of smell to look for people who trapped under debris.

“The dog is very unique.

But that cannot be compared sa aso dahil innate na sa kanila ‘yun. ‘Yung machines nagco-cost ng million, but our dog magkano lang ba? P12,000 or less,” Visto added. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
